If your travels today will be taking you near Walcott, in eastern Iowa, better find your sunglasses and suntan lotion. That’s because both the sun and the chrome are shining brightly at the Walcott Truckers Jamboree along Interstate 80. This is the second and final day of the annual event at Iowa 80 Truckstop, located at Exit number 284. The Jamboree, a tradition since 1979, is a place to celebrate and learn about big rigs. An estimated 30,000 people attend each year to ooh and aah as they walk the display of 200 big trucks and antique trucks, play carnival games, listen to bands and chow down on chops. And, oh yes, there’s entertainment on stage: the Trucker Olympics, the Trucker Talent Contest and the Truckers’ Best Friend Pet Contest. Parking and admission are both free.
