Group looks for excellent parents

Thursday is the deadline to nominate Iowans for the “Excellence in Parenting” award.The new national holiday called “Parents’ Day” is being celebrated the 4th Sunday of every July. David Payer, state director for the Parents’ Day Council of Iowa, says it’s to recognize parents for their outstanding dedication.Parents’ Day picnics are planned for July 28th in both Des Moines and Dyersville. Payer says only a few days remain for people to submit nominations for the awards.For more information on nominations for the awards, head to “www.parentsday.com”.
