Bix jazz fest is today

The annual Jazz Festival named for Davenport native Bix Biederbecke is underway this weekend in his hometown. One of the bands to perform this weekend calls themselves “We’re Late and Smell Like Beer.” Some of the jazz concerts are held in air conditioned ballrooms, but most are outdoors. One of the biggest venues is in LeClaire Park on the banks of the Mississippi. The Bix-7 Road Race gets underway this morning.
