Storm Lake man found guilty of killing wife

July 24, 2002 By admin

George Pittman of Storm Lake has been found guilty of first-degree murder in the stabbing death of his wife.Judge Frank Nelson handed down the verdict Tuesday in Buena Vista County District Court. Pittman was charged with the September 23rd stabbing death of his wife, Keo Gail Pittman, at the couple’s home in Storm Lake. His trial was held in June in front of Nelson after Pittman waived his right to a jury trial. Pittman maintained Keo had committed suicide. However, Nelson ruled Keo’s wounds were not the result of suicide. In the ruling, Nelson concluded the defendant intentionally inflicted both stab wounds sustained by Keo Pittman. Pittman will be sentenced on August 8th. First-degree murder has a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole.
