In the afternoon game in class 3A, Mt. Pleasant scored eight runs in the bottom of the first inning and went on to a 12-7 win over Winterset. Winterset slugger James Peterson went oh-for-two, leaving him with a career total of 73 home runs, two behind national leader Jeff Clement. Winterset walked Peterson twice, and coach Mike Henderson says his team did a good job on the slugger.Henderson says, though, stopping Peterson was just part of the overall game. He says they it wasn’t about keeping Peterson from hitting a home run, it was about winning the ball game.
