A Wisconsin couple has bought the historic Volga Opera house in northeast Iowa with hopes of turning it into a restaurant. The building has been closed since the floods of 1999 heavily damaged the community. Volga native Dianne Freiburger, and her husband Russell, spent 25-thousand dollars to buy the building, which was built in 1914. They hope to open the restaurant yet this year. Much of the flood damage has been repaired but a lot of cleaning, painting and other work remains.
