A pit bull dog found shot in Waterloo over the weekend had to be euthanized by the Humane Society. The dog was found Friday, shot four times in the head, but still alive. It also had a number of wounds and scars all over its body, an indication it was used as bait in a dog fight. Animal control officers tried to save the dog but it was put to death Saturday. Authorities fear underground dog fights are going on in the Waterloo area. It’s illegal in Iowa and becomes a felony on a second offense.
