The state medical examiner’s doing an autopsy on the body of a man found in a dormitory yesterday at Iowa State University in Ames. I-S-U Department of Public Safety spokesman Gene Deisinger says officers called by dormitory staff for a “welfare check” on a resident opened the dorm room to find one man inside, dead. They’ve contacted immediate family, but the he qualified that by saying officials asked for help from family members to confirm the identity of the body. Deisinger says an autopsy’s being done by the state medical examiner. He won’t speculate on the cause of death or whether this is a student, but says only one person was registered for that ISU dorm room, and other students are not being told there’s any threat to them.
