November 20, 2002 By admin

Two Iowa Conference football teams open the division three national playoffs at home. Coe is 9-1 and hosts Wisconsin-Lacrosse in the opening round. Kohawk coach Eric Raeburn says this was a pre-season goal for his team. He says it was a lot of hard work, but they scratched and clawed and were able to win it. Raeburn says his team handled the pressure of a tight Iowa Conference race. He says they’ve played in several games that have a playoff type atmosphere and withstood the pressure. Wartburg will also be at home against Lake Forest College. Wartburg coach Rick Willis says a trip to the playoffs is a great reward for his team. He says it starts with winning the Iowa Conference championship and then he says the team looks forward to competing with some of the best teams in the nation.Willis says his team has been in a must-win situation for several weeks.Coe and Wartburg were two of three teams that tied for the Iowa Conference title. The other tri-champ, Central, did not receive a bid to the playoffs.
