A northeast Iowa do-it-yourself mechanic was badly hurt in a blast Sunday. A rural Anamosa man was working on a vehicle in his garage when it caught fire and the gas tank exploded. 55-year-old Edwin Barnes was burned on the face, torso and groin. He was taken to the Anamosa hospital, then airlifted to University Hospitals in Iowa City, where he’s in serious condition.
