Minnesota man arrested in Cerro Gordo County murder

December 12, 2002 By admin

An arrest has been made in the murder of a rural Plymouth man. 33-year-old Eric Douglas Esse of Albert Lea was charged with first-degree murder and first-degree robbery in the death of 33-year-old Timothy Mammen. Mammen was found dead of a gunshot wound Thanksgiving evening in his home about two miles south of Plymouth. Cerro Gordo County Sheriff Kevin Pals says Esse was an acquaintance or friend of Mammen, and the murder was not a random act of violence. Esse was arrested without incident late yesterday afternoon in Austin by Albert Lea and Austin police as well as the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Department. Esse is being held in the Freeborn County Jail on $182-thousand-500 cash-only bond while awaiting extradition to Iowa.
