Organization seeks to cut back on drinking and driving

December 21, 2002 By admin

An organization created by liquor companies to promote responsible drinking has released the results of its fourth annual survey on public knowledge about drinking. Spokesperson Courtney Means says they asked people if they knew their state’s legal blood alcohol content. She says 70-percent of the people in the nation didn’t know their state’s laws, even though 42-percent said they planned to drink alcohol during the holidays. Means says many people have mistaken ideas about drinking beer and wine. She says the impact of drinking both is the same if the quantity is the same. She says Iowa isn’t exempt from alcohol problems. Means says the Century Council tries to educate people about alcohol. For more information, surf to CenturyCouncil.org.
