Proposed hog confinement in Buchanan County draws concern

January 8, 2003 By admin

A proposed hog confinement in Buchanan County has drawn opposition from neighbors.Confinement owner Jim Blynn wants to build two new hog confinement buildings on property that’s just east of Jesup. A meeting was held last night by opponents of the project. A petition drive is collecting signatures from those opposed to the project for environmental and social reasons. Some residents are concerned a loophole in state law will allow Blynn to quickly double the operation.
