January 9, 2003 By admin

Merrill Andrews’ baseline jumper with one-second remaining in double overtime lifted Southwest Missouri State to a 74-72 win over Drake in Missouri Valley Conference play.Drake coach Kurt Kanaskie says Andrews was the guy they wanted to shoot the shot, but he ended up 2-10, including the last shot to sink Drake. The Bulldogs squandered a chance to take control in the first overtime after being up four with two minutes to go, but missed some shots.Luke McDonald poured in 27-points for Drake and his three pointer with 20-seconds left in the second overtime tied the game at 72.
