The boys state high school tournament opens this morning at Veterans Auditorium with the quarterfinal round in class 1A. The opener is at 10:30 and matches the top seed in the field, unbeaten North Mahaska led by UNI bound forward Grant Stout against Hubbard-Radcliffe. North Mahaska coach Andy Pickering says his team has handled the role of favorite all season and the bullseye got bigger and bigger as the season went on. North Mahaska is one of two teams from the South Iowa Cedar League in the field, the other is H-L-V of Victor.
