Davenport man faces charges for driving into conveinence store

April 2, 2003 By admin

A Davenport man faces a variety of charges after making a convenience store a drive-through. Police say Rickey Mitchem intentionally rammed his girlfriend’s car into the front of the Marquette Street Kwik Shop on Tuesday, though investigators haven’t elaborated on his motive. Police say the 46-year-old had been smoking crack cocaine just before the incident and had his daughter in the back seat. Neither he nor the eight-year-old girl were hurt, but the store sustained heavy damage, including a wiped out wall, window, beer cooler and an automatic teller machine. Damage exceeds ten-thousand dollars. Charges against Mitchem include: O-W-I, criminal mischief, child endangerment and drug possession. He’s held on 25-thousand dollars bond.
