Wartburg looks for rare triple track title

May 9, 2003 By admin

Wartburg will try to maintain its dominance of the Iowa Conference as the league’s outdoor track championships begin in Mount Vernon. Both the Wartburg mens’ and womens’ teams are favored in the team chase but coach Marcus Newsom says the Knights will get plenty of competition. He says it’s one of the best conferences in the country. The Knights could make history this weekend after sweeping cross country and indoor track titles this spring. He says winning all three titles was part of their goal, as it’s never been done. The Iowa Conference meet runs through Saturday at Cornell College
