Old rivals Luther and Wartburg collide for the 61st time in Decorah on Saturday. Wartburg is 2-0 and the Knights have outscored their first two opponents 103-7. Luther is also 2-0 which Wartburg coach Rick Willis says makes the game even more important. Luther’s ground game has been impressive in the first two games. He says they’re physical and their back Mike Jefferson is one of the best they’ve had. Second-year Luther coach Paul Hefty is happy with the progress of his team, but he says they’re young and have a long, long way to go. The Norse have been opportunistic, as through two games they are a plus eight in the turnover category. He says the one thing a young team needs is to keep its turnovers down. Wartburg has won the last 11-games in the series.
