Iowa U.S. Senator Charles Grassley plans to sponsor tax information sessions in Iowa towns including Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Davenport and Waterloo. Five years ago the senator led the charge for a more user-friendly IRS and enacted legislation to change systemic management problems and to modernize the agency’s technology. The republican senator says he has to watch over the IRS to make sure they’re making proper use of the resources provided in that legislation. He’s sending staffers from his field offices to the tax days, too.He says he also wants to help Iowans “navigate” changes in the tax law he helped engineer as chair of the senate finance committee. Grassley says Iowans who can’t make the information sessions can call their tax questions in to his local offices in Des Moines, Davenport, Waterloo and Cedar Rapids.
