A 19-year-old Iowa State University student is in custody on child pornography charges. Eugene Deisinger is a captain with the I-S-U police. Deisinger says the student faces three charges of sexual exploitation of a minor because he had child porn in his possession. Nicholas Lloyd Burch, a freshman majority in engineering, is being held in the Story County jail. Deisinger says on September 15th, an Iowa State officer did a “fairly routine” search on the university computer network for keywords related to child porn, and it appeared a certain computer user was sharing images of children that were pornographic in nature. Officers got a warrant and searched Burch’s dorm room and seized a computer and several media storage devices. Deisinger says they found several still images that depicted minors engaged in, or subjected to, sexual activities.
