The widower of Hollywood actress and Denison native Donna Reed died recently. Grover Asmus died October 11th in Palm Desert, California of a brain tumor at the age of 77. Executive Director of the Donna Reed Foundation, Gwen Ecklund, says Asmus was instrumental in establishing Reed as one of Hollywood’s memorable figures.Ecklund says Asmus brought Reed’s Oscar back to Denison as a gift, helping establish the Donna Reed Foundation. Asmus led a colorful life that included school at West Point Military Academy. He also served as an aide to General Omar Bradley. Memorials are suggested for the Donna Reed Foundation in Denison.
