The Wartburg College football team opens the N-C-A-A division-three playoffs at home this weekend against Bethel of Minnesota. The Knights lived up to preseason expectations by winning the Iowa Conference title and finishing the regular season unbeaten. Wartburg coach Rick Willis says the team is very focused right now. He says they’re excited to be in the playoffs, but want to go farther than last year. Bethel came within an eyelash of winning the Minnesota Conference title. Willis says Bethel has an outstanding football team and he says they have a stiff challenge ahead, but says his team has played well too.Something has to give in this one, Bethel averages more than 200-yards of rushing per game while the Wartburg defense ranks second nationally, giving up an average of 55-yards on the ground. Willis says the team that can run the ball the best usually has the best opportunity to win. Willis says the Knights are glad to have the chance to play at home, as he says they’ve been very successful there.
