Four football title games set for Friday

November 20, 2003 By admin

Four champions will be crowned tomorrow at the state high school football championships in the UNI-Dome. Three schools will be in search of back-to-back titles during the weekend but Eldora-New Providence will bid for its first title when the second-ranked Tigers take on fourth-ranked Council Bluffs St. Albert in the 1A championship game. Eldora-New Providence coach Randy Tjaden would love to have the kind of start they had in the semifinal round when the Tigers scored 14-points before the West Branch offense ran a play. The Tigers speed and skill has received a lot of attention but Tjaden says a solid offensive line has played a key role, as he says every one of the starters is good.Tjaden says he would like for his seniors to end their careers with a state championship.Sentral of Fenton will try to win a second straight eight-man title. West Des Moines Valley attempts to win a second straight 4A crown and on Saturday Emmetsburg will try to win a second straight title in class 2A.
