Iowa tackle Robert Gallery has been named one of three finalists for the Outland Trophy, given annually to the nation’s top lineman. The winner will be announced during the Home Depot Show next Thursday in Orlando, Florida. He says that’s all linemen talk about, and it’s all he heard about growing up as a lineman. Gallery would have been drafted after last season but opted to return for his senior year. He says it was his goal to come back and help the team and become a better player. He says that’s worked out and the opportunity to win the awards is a big deal. A couple of weeks ago Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said Gallery should be the runaway choice for the Outland. Gallery says that’s the greatest compliment he could ever get as he respects what Ferentz has done with the program.
