The numbers told the story for the Iowa Hawkeyes last night in Dallas. The Hawks shot only 39 percent from the field, made only 12 of 25 free throws and committed 19-turnovers. It added up to a 65-59 loss to Texas Tech. Hawkeye coach Steve Alford says Tech made six more free throws and that’s what the game came down to. The Hawkeyes started slowly and trailed by 12 at halftime. Alford says the 13-day layoff was evident in the first half and said he’d worried about that before the game. Glen Worley shined off the bench and finished with 12 points and five rebounds. Worley says the free throws have been their Achilles heel, and they have to work on them. Worley says it took too long for the Hawkeyes to adjust to Tech’s defense. He says they jumped out right away, but he says his team was more patient in the second half and that helped.
