Five Iowa nursing homes face stiff fines from state regulators on various violations revolving around the inadequate care of residents. The Odebolt Nursing and Rehab Center allegedly failed to prevent a resident from wandering away in November. Pleasant Park Estates in Oskaloosa and Mitchell Village Care Center in Mitchellville had similar situations. Each of the three were fined two-thousand dollars. Riverview Care Center in Des Moines was also fined two-thousand dollars for not preventing a resident to be seriously burned by a heating vent. Crestview Manor in Webster City faces nearly five-thousand dollars in fines for allegations regarding scalding water, falsification of records and the wandering away of a resident.
