The first round of the Allianz Championship is today at the Glen Oaks Country Club in West Des Moines. Concerns with the chance of bad weather made officials change the tee times and golfer will start at the first and tenth tees. The rain this week has left the fairway’s softer and may lead to higher scores according to last year’s champ Don Pooley. He says the rough is U.S. Open quality and they’ll need to keep it on the fairway. Pooley says the greens have been receptive. He says they’ll hold a good shot from the fairway, but not the rough. The first groups tee off at ten this morning.
