Thousands of runners take to the streets of Des Moines tomorrow morning for the annual Dam-to-Dam run. It is the 25th year for the 20K race which begins at Saylorville Dam and finishes in downtown Des Moines.Spokesman Tom Riley says they expect to have around 33-hundred in the 20K and over one thousand in the 5-K. He says after 25-years , the event continues to gain popularity. He says he’s been involved in 22 of them and people keep coming back. He says they’ve tried to make it a fun event and that has paid off. Riley says the 20K is popular because it is a challenging race, but does not have the wear and tear of a marathon. He says the marathon scares people off, but at a little over 12 miles, people feel they can train and do the 20K.
