The U-N-I football team has high hopes as they get ready for the 2004 season. Panther coach Mark Farley says it begins at quarterback where fifth year senior Tom Petrie returns for his final season. He says Petrie has 28 starts and has won 70-percent of those games and has thrown for close to six thousand yards of total offense and he says there aren’t many quarterbacks who have that experience. Farley says they have to rely on that experience. He will get plenty help from what should be a potent ground game with one back who rushed for 1,300 yards and one who rushed for 900 yards. Petrie would love to finish his career by leading the Panthers to a national championship. He says that thought has been in his mind since his freshman year and he says it’s the goal of every team at the start of the season.U-N-I opens the season September fourth at Iowa State.
