High School football features key district matchups

October 8, 2004 By admin

In high school football action tonight a pair of rated teams collide in class 2A district three as fourth rated North Fayette hosts number five Waterloo Columbus. North Fayette coach Ron Wymer expects a tough game as he says they have a complete ballclub that can throw and run and play good defense.Wymer says defending Columbus begins with their passing game and they somehow need to contain the passing game. Columbus coach Aundra Meeks says the Sailors want to be balanced between the run and the pass and try to take what the defense gives them.Meeks says one of the keys to the game is to be ready to play the game, four quarters of “Sailor Football.”In class 3A the co-leaders in district six collide as Williamsburg hosts Benton. Williamsburg moved up from class 2A this year and coach Kurt Richey says a victory over Knoxville last week was a boost of confidence heading into this game. He says Benton is a very veteran and physical team.Richey says the teams have similarities in how they huddle and some of the things they do on offense. He says that makes it easier to scout, but he says they still have to be ready to go.
