Dan McCarney’s worst fears materialized on Saturday night. The Iowa State coach said Texas A@M was vastly improved this season and the Aggies showed it Saturday night as the dominated from start to finish in a 34-3 victory which spoiled the Cyclones homecoming. He says they have good players, good talent, and a good system. McCarney says they’re a really high quality football team. With the loss the Cyclones fall to 0-2 in the Big-12 and their losing streak in conference games is now 12. He says, “We’ve gotta pull it up by the bootstraps. Every coach and every player has to roll up their sleeves, higher tighter and faster.” He says all the teams they face will be just as hungry.Freshman quarterback Bret Meyer was injured late in the first half but was held out as a pre-caution and will be ready for this week’s game against Colorado. He says the team will be fine as the Big 12 North is still wide open. He says the team has a lot of heart and will bounce back.
