The Iowa State Cyclones can move into a tie for the Big-12 North division lead this weekend with a victory over Nebraska. The Cyclones are 3-4 overall and 2-3 in the league race after a 13-7 win over Kansas. Cyclone coach Dan McCarney says they’ve made some marked improvements, but says they have a long way to go. He says they’ve been an underdog since the very first game against UNI, so he says it says something that they’ve made improvement this year. The North Division has been criticized this year and there is a possibility the division champ could need to win the Big-12 title game to be bowl eligible. McCarney says he doesn’t think any team in the division has to make any appologies on anything. He says it’s a conference and a divisions full of “outstanding teams.” He says with three Saturdays to go, a lot of teams are in the race, and that makes it exciting.
