An Iowa politician is featured prominently in a documentary about the late Senator Paul Wellstone that will premiere in southwest Minnesota tonight (Friday). The film follows Wellstone and his wife Sheila from high school to Washington, D.C. The documentary features reflections from a number of friends, including Iowa Senator Tom Harkin.Harkin says Wellstone “was able in a very disarming way to kinda’ cut through the hyperbole in Washington and the gobbledygook of politics and get to the heart of the matter,” things like justice, fairness and values. The documentary will be shown at the Palace Theatre in Luverne, Minnesota, tonight, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Proceeds raised will benefit the Southwest Crisis Center, which operates domestic violence programs in southwest Minnesota. Wellstone, his wife Sheila and daughter Marcia died in a plane crash in Minnesota in December of 2002, that also killed three staff members and two pilots.
