The Democrat’s vice presidential candidate in 2004 says it’s much too soon to talk about a campaign for 2008. Former North Carolina Senator John Edwards has just left Iowa after helping raise money for a democratic congressional candidate and meeting with Iowans who backed his presidential bid. He also appeared on Iowa Public Television. “I have a campaign right now and a cause, but that cause is not politics, it’s poverty,” Edwards says. Edwards has established a new center in North Carolina to study poverty. “I’m pouring my heart and soul into this,” Edwards says. His wife, Elizabeth Edwards, was diagnosed with breast cancer the day after the election. She has undergone eight chemotherapy treatments and Edwards says his wife is “courageous.” Edwards says if he were going through what his wife is going through he’s be “whining like a baby.”
