Morningside tries to stay in conference race

April 8, 2005 By admin

The Morningside baseball team will try to stay in the thick of the Great Plains Conference race on Saturday by hosting Northwestern College in a doubleheader. The Mustangs are 22-7-1 overall and tied with Briar Cliff and Concordia in third in the league race. Morningside coach Jim Sholten says he expects things to go right down to the wire. He says they have a lot of games to play yet, and a lot to take care of. Sholten says pitching has been a major factor in their success. The staff earned run average is under three-and-a-half and Mustang pitchers have yielded just over two walks per game. He says with aluminum bats and the strong hitting, that e-r-a is very good.
