Threatening letter found at Newton High School

April 12, 2005 By admin

Newton school officials are reacting to a threatening note found this morning at the high school. The letter specified someone would die at 10 A.M. every day this week but did not indicate where the deaths would occur. Police have checked the school buildings and are still on-campus gathering evidence. School officials have given parents the option to remove children from class. A school district spokesman says they’re taking every precaution to insure students’ safety. Jim Sogaard is an administrator for the Newton school district. Sogaard says students have been allowed to leave school with their parent’s permission and a few have done so. He says the high school building was searched and all the other buildings have been alerted. Sogaard says police are at the high school.
