Decorah looks for track title

The first state high school track meet combining the boys and girls opens Thursday morning at Drake Stadium with action in classes 1A and 4A. Thursday afternoon action will shift to 3A and 2A. The Decorah boys have qualified in 14 events as they look to defend their 3A team title. Decorah coach Joel Rollinger who says there be plenty of competition and he thinks they can be a top five team, depending on how things fall. He says Dubuque Wahlert, Charles City and Harlan all have a lot of kids involved and will be tough. Rollinger feels the Vikings are qualified in enough events to win, if they perform well. He says if they put together a nice weekend and score high in some of the events, then they have a chance to do some good things.The state meet runs through Saturday afternoon.
