The UNI baseball team will close out the regular season with a critical three-game series at Southwest Missouri State beginning today. The Panthers are battling for the 6th and final spot for the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. Going into today’s action, UNI is tied with Indiana State and Bradley for 5th place in the Valley at 9-12. While there are many possible scenarios among five schools battling for the final two Valley postseason berths, UNI coach Rick Heller is more concerned about how his team plays. He says they feel like they need to win one of the three games to get in, and maybe two.Heller wants his team to play with the same loose attitude that has helped them win 13 of their last 16 games. He says they’ll tell them to just to out and play and have fun.UNI is trying to qualify to the Valley tournament for the fourth time in five years.
