Clinton man charged with killing ex-wife, man

May 23, 2005 By admin

A Clinton man’s been arrested in a double murder last month and is jailed on one-million dollars bond. Clinton Police Chief Brian Guy announced that two counts of first-degree murder have been filed against 52-year-old Maurice Walker, Senior, in the shooting death of his ex-wife Renee Walker and Steven Lee Kersey April 12 at an apartment in Clinton. The police chief wasn’t saying much more about the arrest, though he said today (Monday) Walker was charged with first-degree murder at the Clinton County jail, where he’d been transferred Friday from an Illinois jail where he was being held on child-endangerment charges. Court records show Walker had claimed to be in Chicago at the time of the slayings, but that alibi was discredit during the investigation and there’s reportedly physical evidence from the crime scene linking directly to the defendant, Maurice Walker. Formal arraignment is set for Tuesday morning.
