The Bettendorf boy’s soccer team will be looking to add to what has already been a banner year for the school when the state tournament opens on Friday in Des Moines. Bettendorf has already won state championships in football, basketball and boys golf. The soccer team is the defending class 2A state champ and will enter the tournament with a record of 18-0. Coach Ben Pennington says they’ve kept up the tradition over the years. He says this group of athletes have done a good job of handling the expectations that come with success. He says they go about their business with a quiet confidence and don’t get over excited about a win. The Bulldogs open the state soccer tournament Friday night against Waterloo West.
