Panthers hope to post big finish to track season

June 6, 2005 By admin

The UNI men’s track and field team hopes to cap an outstanding season at the NCAA Championships this week in Sacramento, California. The Panthers are coming off a best-ever eighth place finish at an NCAA regional in Norman, Oklahoma. “We’ve got our biggest crew ever going. We’re in a bunch of different events and we hope we can hold together for one more week and try to make some noise at the national championship,” UNI coach Chris Bucknam says. The Panthers were the Missouri Valley Conference indoor and outdoor champs and have six events qualified for the national meet. The NCAA championships begin Wednesday.
