The Sioux City North girls soccer team is hoping to post an upset when the state tournament begins Thursday in Muscatine. North is 10-5 on the season but coach Kalie Gaskill says her team is playing its best at the right time. She says they lost seven seniors last year, so it took some time for them to jell.North opens the tournament against class 2A top-ranked and unbeaten West Des Moines Valley but Gaskill says her team likes the challenge. She says it’s 80 minutes to see what you can do against a very talented team. To win the tournament a team must win three matches in three days so Gaskill says stamina is a factor. She says it’s tough to play that schedule, but she says overall it shows who is the best soccer team and the best conditioned team. The tournament begins Thursday morning with the opening round in class 1A.
