Civil Rights group seeks nominations for awards

The group Friends of Iowa Civil Rights is seeking applications for its Annual Friends of Iowa Civil Rights Award. Spokesperson Dawn Peterson says they have several categories for the award. She says it can be individuals, businesses, non-profits and this year they’ve added a youth category to recognize significant contributions in promoting civil rights in Iowa. Peterson says nominations need to be in by September 7th. She says anyone can submit a nomination. Nomination forms are available by calling her at 515-281-8086. Or you can e-mail her [email protected] Peterson says the winners will be announced in October.She says the awards are part of this year’s statewide diversity conference October 17th in Ames. Peterson says it’ll be the tenth annual awards ceremony to recognize champions of civil rights.
