Explosion rocks Lanesboro elevator

August 22, 2005 By admin

Residents of the Carroll County town of Lanesboro were literally shaken this morning, when a grain elevator reportedly exploded. There’s no word on what cause it, and no reports of injuries. A local resident reported hearing a large explosion which left a large hole in the bottom of the elevator. Local officials say there were no immediate reports of fire in the building eight after the blast, but witnesses later reported seeing smoke coming from the structure. Local emergency-response crews were on the scene throughout the day, trying to assess the total amount of damage.
