If you find you don’t have money to donate to hurricane relief, there is a way to donate some time. I-R-S spokesman Christopher Miller says the agency has created a program to allow you to donate your sick leave or vacation time for hurricane relief. He says you’re able to donate the unused sick or leave time back to your employer, and the employer can then turn it into cash and donate it to a qualified charitable organization hurricane relief. Miller says you can find out more about the program on the I-R-S website. He says surf to IRS.gov where you can find everything from charitable organizations that you know are safe for donations, to the toll free number to call to get help. Miller says if you can’t get on-line, you can call 1-800-829-1040.
