Amber Alert issued for Davenport child

October 10, 2005 By admin

An Amber Alert is out for a young child taken from her home in the Quad Cities yesterday. Davenport Police Sergeant Shawn Voigts says the Alert was declared about nine Sunday night. The suspect in the kidnapping is 23-year-old Juan Tapia who’s a Hispanic man around six-foot-three-inches tall, 180 pounds, with a shaved head and a tattoo on his neck. The man was last seen wearing a white shirt, blue jeans, white tennis shoes and a black leather coat. He’s thought to be driving a gold Mistubishi Mirage with Illinois license plates, and the vehicle may have front-end damage.

The child taken from her mother’s home on Sunday is the man’s daughter.
The girl’s name is Arisbeth Martinez and she’s a one year old, about two-feet tall and weighs around 20 pounds. The baby has short light-brown hair and brown eyes. Police say she was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans with white shoes and pink socks.

Police say Tapia is the girl’s father but Sergeant Voigts says he did not live with the family and is driving a car with Illinois plates. Police say he’s moved back and forth and a current address isn’t available The man’s wanted in warrants from other jurisdictions, in connection with previous offenses.

Police say he’s considered armed and dangerous and anyone who spots the gold car with the man and baby shouldn’t try to contact or approach them, but call local law enforcement. They think Tapia’s headed for the Waukegan, Illinois area.
