Car drives through store in Belmond

November 9, 2005 By admin

That was no secret shopper who came into the Dollar Store in Belmond Tuesday. When a car crashed through the front of the building, manager Rex Pepper didn’t quite know what was going on — and still isn’t sure he does. “We’re still tryin’ to figure that out,” he says. A woman just “came right through the building,” he says, didn’t have time to hit her brakes or stop when her car came plunging into the store. It was about 1:30 Tuesday afternoon, and investigators were still working on determining what happened while the manager boarded up his front window to close for the night. Nobody was hurt.
