Drake to close out "season without a home"

November 10, 2005 By admin

The Drake Bulldogs close out their season this weekend with a game against Waldorf at Valley Stadium. Drake is 5-4 after a lopsided win at Valparaiso and this will be the final game for a senior class that coach Ash says that while small on numbers has had a major impact. He says they’re the guys who helped bring the program back to a winning level. He says they started out as average players and got better every year. Ash says the final game and the week leading up to it is bittersweet for all the seniors. It’s the last day for conditioning and preparing for a game, and Ash says the underclassmen help them get through it. Once the season is over the Bulldogs can look forward to moving back into Drake Stadium next season. Renovations forced the Bulldogs to move their home games off campus. He says the stadiums they used were great, but he says nobody will be sad that this is their last “vagabond” game.
