Class A championship features a rematch

November 18, 2005 By admin

It will be a one-versus-two rematch in class A at the state high school football championships in the UNI-Dome. Top ranked West Bend-Mallard will take on a second-rated North Mahaska team that will be out to avenge a 40-7 loss in last year’s title game. North Mahaska coach Steve Ehret says they were beaten on last year by a good West Bend team. He says though his team has been to the semifinals, they won a basketball title and were semifinalists in baseball and know what big games are about. He says his team’s biggest strength is the team concept as everyone goes out and does their job. West Bend-Mallard head coach Koy Goodchild says the Wolverines still must run the ball well, even with tailback Brad Ruppert out again. He says North Mahaska has big corners and better size and speed overall.
