Reward offered after pet elk is shot

November 21, 2005 By admin

A two-thousand dollar reward is being offered for information on the person who shot an eastern Iowa couple’s pet elk. “Big Al” a five year old Rocky Mountain elk had been raised by Ken and Gloria Van Milligan of rural Fairfax. The elk, which was kept in a pen, was found dead Sunday November 13. The 900 pound elk had apparently been shot at close range. The Van Milligans were offering a one-thousand dollar reward for whoever turns in the suspect and now an anonymous individual has come forward to add another one-thousand dollars to the reward. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Linn County Sheriff’s Department.
